Which Image Format Do I Choose?

from:

Digital photography made it available for us to edit pictures we have taken specially if there is an unlikely flaw that appeared with it. This will then let you come across different file formats when editing the photos to your image enhancer editor. But how would you know which format would you use in storing the photos?
Storing of the photos into file format usually varies on the type of your future use of the photos. File formats comes on JPEG, TIFF, PNG and RAW.
1. JPEG. JPEG format is commonly used in image and web design formatting. This is because most computer softwares allow this type of formatting, and can be opened using various programs. However, lot of details are often lost when used in image storing especially when the file gets compressed.
2. TIFF – the answer to JPEG’s poor quality is the TIFF format. It means that more details are saved which translates to a better image quality. But it comes at a price since TIFF files are notoriously huge and could eat up storage media space in no time. However, TIFF when viewed using image openers softwares are sometimes not recognized.
3. PNG. PNG format is usually used when the property of image transparency is needed in photo editing. This is common when editing pictures for magazines and editing of image backgrounds.
4. RAW – among the four, RAW could be considered as the file that shows images at its, well, rawest. RAW images are unprocessed which gives photographers more control in editing them later on.
These are the commonly used image formats in photography. However, when in doubt you may ask for a help of a graphic artist or anyone you has the knowledge of image enhancing. You may also choose to browse the web since it provides handy information for you.
