The Difference between a Digital and the Film Camera

from:

Though digital cameras have been available for decades, there are still who are quite confused of its primary differences. Basically, digital camera differs from film camera on how the data is stored and the image quality. However, since the development of the digital camera, there have been more features available, and differences are really far off from the other.
Image Storage. Storage for Film and the digital camera differs greatly. Film camera uses the 35mm film which may vary in the number of shots and manufacturers, while different digital cameras use different storage media. Among these are compact flash, memory stick and memory cards. Moreover, different types of storage media also differ in their memory capacities. Also, digital storage media can store larger capacities of images unlike the typical 35mm roll of film which can hold only around 36 pictures.
In addition, image storage of digital camera are more durable since it can endure temperature and lights unlike the film which is photo-sensitive, you run the risk of destroying the media storage by exposing to air and light.
Size. Film camera is more bulky than that of the digital camera. Miniaturing of the features have made it possible to cut the usual thickness of one inch film camera to a slimmer type like half inch thick. This is made possible through slimmer storage type of digital camera compared to the bulky film at the back of the film camera.
Time to see the image. When using a digital camera, you can instantly view the result of the image you have taken. Unlike the film camera, you have to process it and get printed before you can see the output.
Image enhancement features. Apart from the physical differences in parts of the digital camera over the film camera, there are also internal differences which further enhance the system of digital camera. These are the IS or the Image Stabilization, the Megapixels, the resolutions, self timers and sensors.
Image Stabilization feature allows to stabilized images when taking shots.
Digital cameras capture images as pixel elements, known as pixels. Simply put, a megapixel is equal to one million pixels.
Resolution relates primarily to print size and the amount of detail an image has when viewed on a computer monitor at 100%. More megapixels mean higher resolution.
All digital cameras record images in an electronic form. The sensor, which is the heart of a digital camera, records an image when you take a picture. Light strikes a sensor through the lens. In 35mm terms, the sensor is "film."
So there are the differences. Study it and decide which can be better for your needs.
